How Annapurna Nursing Institute collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data — and the rights you have over it under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Annapurna Nursing Institute (“ANI”, “we”, “us”) — an educational institution offering the General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) diploma at Rajbandh–Gopalpur Road, Near Bankali Temple, PS Kanksa, Dist. Paschim Bardhaman, Pin 713212, West Bengal, India. We are recognised by the West Bengal Nursing Council (WBNC) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC).

We are an education provider only. We do not operate a hospital, clinic, pharmacy or diagnostic centre; we do not provide medical care, diagnosis, treatment or health advice to the public; and we do not sell medicines, medical devices or health services. Our students undertake supervised clinical training at partner hospitals as part of their curriculum, under those hospitals’ own governance. 2. What personal data we collect

We collect only what we need for the purposes listed in section 3, and no more. We never ask for your caste, religion, political views, biometric data or financial account passwords through this website.

Information you give usName, mobile number, email address, city, the programme you are enquiring about, your previous qualification, and anything you choose to write in a message. Submitted through our enquiry, admission and contact forms, or told to our website assistant — if you give it your name, it will greet you by that name when you come back. You can erase that at any time with the “Not you?” button on the assistant itself, without asking us.

Information collected automaticallyStandard technical data your browser sends: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you view. Used for security, fraud prevention and aggregate statistics. If you use the website assistant we also record, against your conversation, the address the request came from, the town our network reports for it, and what kind of browser and device you are on — so that a returning visitor can be recognised. Your device’s own name is never available to a website, and we do not attempt to work it out. We do not use any of this to build advertising profiles about identified individuals.

Student portal accountsIf you are an enrolled student, your login and academic records are held in our learning portal, which is operated on a separate system. Access is restricted to you and authorised staff.

Documents you submitAdmission documents such as mark sheets, certificates and identity proof, where you send them to us. These are retained only as long as our regulators require and are never published on this website.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

· To respond to your enquiry and arrange counselling or a campus visit — on the basis of the consent you give when you submit a form.

· To process applications, verify eligibility and maintain student records — necessary to provide the education you have asked us for, and to meet our obligations to the WBNC and INC.

· To assist with scholarships, including West Bengal schemes and the Student Credit Card — only where you ask us to, and only with the information those schemes require.

· To send academic notices, examination information and administrative updates to enrolled students — necessary to deliver the programme.

· To keep this website secure, prevent spam and misuse, and comply with the law — a legitimate use permitted under the DPDP Act.

We never sell your personal data. We do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use it to advertise anything other than our own educational programmes. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see section 7) — it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give.

4. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use essential cookies to keep the site secure and remember your session, and analytics cookies to understand which pages are useful. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

Where we run advertising, we may use Google Analytics and Google Ads, including remarketing, to show our courses to people who have visited this site. Google may set cookies to measure whether an advertisement led to an enquiry. You can opt out of personalised Google advertising at google.com/settings/ads, opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and control third-party advertising cookies at optout.aboutads.info.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Essential cookies cannot be switched off without parts of the site ceasing to work, such as staying logged in. The website assistant additionally keeps two things in your browser’s local storage: a random identifier, which is how it recognises you on a later visit and which says nothing about you or your device, and the first name you gave it, so our enquiry forms do not ask you for it again. Both are used only on this website, and both are removed when you press “Not you?” or clear your browsing data. We do not use cookies to track you across unrelated websites for profiling.

6. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to an admission are erased within 24 months. Admission and academic records are retained for as long as the WBNC, the INC and applicable Indian law require us to hold them, and are then securely deleted. Website security logs are kept for 12 months. For the website assistant: individual visit records are erased after 6 months, a visitor who never gave a name is erased entirely after 45 days, and a name we were given is erased after 2 years without a return visit.

If you withdraw consent or ask us to erase your data, we will do so unless we are legally required to keep a record — for example a completed academic transcript. Where we must retain something, we will tell you what and why.

7. Your rights under the DPDP Act

As a Data Principal you have the right to: access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it; correct anything inaccurate, and complete or update anything incomplete or out of date; erase your personal data where we no longer need it; nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated; and raise a grievance with us.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, and may mean we can no longer progress your application.

We protect your data with reasonable technical and organisational safeguards: encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the whole site, access limited to staff who need it, hashed passwords, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but if a personal data breach occurs we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.

8. Children and applicants under 18

Some GNM applicants are under 18 at the time of enquiry. Under the DPDP Act, anyone under 18 is a child, and we must obtain verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before processing their personal data. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to submit the enquiry, or to contact us so we can record their consent. We do not knowingly undertake tracking or behavioural advertising directed at children, and we do not serve targeted advertisements to them. If you believe we hold a child’s data without proper consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version. Where a change materially affects how we use your personal data, we will tell you directly and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
